About Us

Kavet 'm eus is a card game that was originally designed to train mental arithmetic. It was developed by Andrea Labbé 20 years ago for her son Yannick, who was in first grade at this time. Yannick had the biggest struggles adding or subtracting, as soon as the calculations exceeded the limit of 10. His mother knew that training was a solution to the problem. Except that, in her time, training was not very pleasant and was synonymous with punishment. So for Yannick, it had to be something else! A few evenings of paper cutting and colouring later, the game was operational. So was Yannick after a few weeks of daily play. Hence the name of the game! Kavet 'm eus means EUREKA in Breton! As other mathematical operations were added to Yannick's school progress, the game revealed its potential and became a family affair. Kavet 'm eus is now ready to delight other homes!

commitments

Although Kavet 'm eus is a small company, a family project, this does not prevent it from having an eco-responsible vision for this product. We have designed this whole venture to minimise our ecological impact

  • The paper used for the cards is partly recycled and comes from sustainably managed French or German forests

  • The packaging is systematically made from 100% recycled raw materials

  • All components used in the manufacturing process are from non-genetically modified plant sources and are compatible with recycling

  • The design of the packaging is based on a folding technique to avoid the use of chemical glues

  • The whole game (packaging and cards) contains only the necessary information to minimise the amount of ink used

  • The game and its packaging are sourced from suppliers within a 400km radius of the company's headquarters to minimise the carbon impact of transport

  • Only the elastic band and the sealing label are not produced in Europe.

Labels

The cards have the labels FSC, PEFC and Alsace. The packaging have the label "Der Blaue Engel". Kavet 'm eus have the label Alsace.

Fellows

Kavet 'm eus thanks from the bottom of its heart to...

  • to everyone who tested the game and encouraged us to publish it ... first and foremost Christel Helene Schmidt, designer in Linz / Austria, who also developed the ingenious packaging

  • Yannick, who was the inspiration for the development of the game, and who today helps out with the application of various computer programs with the patience of an angel.

  • his big brothers, Julien and Florian, for their equally patient and wise advice, for their practical support in all commercial, legal, practical and technical matters, and for the many hours they both invested in this project

  • the uncle of my three sons, Matthias Wagner, painter and illustrator in Baden-Steinbach for the gift of the beautiful illustrations of the packaging and event cards.

  • Vera Leroux for her rigorous proofreading of the game rules.

  • Claire de Furst, expert in the language of Molière for her proofreading of the French prose.

  • Guislaine Seignez, expert in the language of Shakespeare for translation into English.

  • Laurent Labbé, who co-financed the project without reserve and stoïcely endured the creative chaos that at times spread to every area of our lives.
